A Churches Together group
and Thy Kingdom Come in 2016

Jane Holloway writes:

Witney TKC 1of3In 2017, Churches Together in Witney, Oxfordshire, had a planning group that started to meet in January to plan. We had used the TKC prayer stations for 2016 but wanted something different that was deeply rooted in our history as a town and also linked with prophetic words that had been given. So there was 8-9 days when the Congregational church was open 24 hours a day with prayer stations - some of which described below.

We also had a quiet/retreat day led by one of the church leaders from an Anglican church on Ascension Day.  Other churches took the Sunday sermons on the theme, even though it was half term so many were away.
Witney TKC 20f3They are 4 prayer spaces from last May:

1. Living Water: lots of great Scriptures and symbols on this theme with opportunity to interact.
2. Prophetic words for Witney. A Witney blanket representing God's care, comfort, protection and healing. Specific prophesies were there for people to see and pray into, guidance to pray for schools, children etc.
3. A display and prayer guidance for Late Nite Cafe, The Turning, Street Pastors and Besom prayer and action initiatives.
4. Weaving together our prayers using a large board, strings across and strips of material woven into it and put together by school children and elderly people, which could be added to.

Witney TKC 3of3Other displays and prayer stations included a map of the town, as well as resources for individuals and families to pray, and groups praying 'Thy Kingdom Come', and 'Come Holy Spirit'.

Jim Currin adds:

A number of Churches Together groups have used the opportunity and resources of Thy Kingdom Come, from villages to cities, involving all traditions and churches. As a member of staff at CTE involved in the planning and resourcing of Thy Kingdom Come, I am keen to know of more examples and illustrations so do Ben Aldous  if you have a story to share.
